The Prize
A once-in-a lifetime experience: your original portrait by a professional artist, from life or photo, in the gallery. The winner can sit for the portrait themselves, or give this opportunity to a person of their choice.
To celebrate artist Gail Reid’s solo show, the Aga Kubish Art Gallery & Studio are delighted to offer this prize to be raffled by and for the Birnbeck Pier Regeneration Trust.
The Artist
Gail Reid was a semi-finalist on Sky Arts TV “Portrait Artist Of The Year 2023”, where she painted Jay Rayner and Emma Bunton. Gail is an experienced event portrait sketcher, and has exhibited at the Royal Portrait Society’s annual exhibition in London. Commissioned portraits by Gail usually start at £500.
Since joining the gallery, Gail has enjoyed painting Weston seascapes, particularly around Birnbeck Pier. Renovation work on the gallery building, and the planned pier renovations, are supported by many local and national organisations and grants.
The Gallery & Exhibition
Aga Kubish Art Gallery & Studio is the new fine art gallery at 4 Walliscote Road. It is in one of the recently restored buildings in the High Street Heritage Action Zone in the centre of Weston. As an independent business, led by award-winning printmaker Aga Kubish, the gallery is keen to collaborate with the vibrant community of local organisations and businesses.
